Poppys and Peonys

I like to plant flowers that remind me of something or someone in my garden. Several years ago I put a peony flower in because my mom had one in her yard. I loved to smell them when I was young. Last year I planted a big orange ornamental poppy in my yard. My Grandma Joy had some in her yard in with her purple Iris. I have some of her iris but the poppy I took from her yard didn't live. So I just bought one. I didn't plant it by the Iris. I have it by my front step. The peony and poppy were so beautiful this year I had to take a picture.

Perennial Bed with a Surprise
I planted about 35 new perennials in this flower bed this year. It took me 3 days to clean out the old, rearange the old and plant the new. I hope all the hard work will pay off. For the surprise...look at the first picture. The second picture is a close up of the surprise.

Yep sure enough we got a Trampoline this summer. It takes up a good fourth of my grass. Oh well the kids have loved it for week number 1.

(even better this picture was taken with my phone not bad for a action shop)

I bought this little insightful book for myself as a Mothers day present. It compairs things we do in care of our gardens to our lives and the things we must do to help us in planting seeds of faith in them to help us to return to our Father in Heaven. Great little encourageing read.
Josh came home from school the other day and saw the book. He read the title "Finding God in the Garden" and he asked me if the book was like an I Spy Book. I laughed at him. I asked him how we would know what he looked like to find him in the book. I guess it would be easy if he was wearing a red and white striped shirt and hat

New Class

I started my new class last night. It is the Annual and Perrenial class through USU. I am going to love this class. It is held up at Red Butte Gardens. What a wonderful place. I wish I had a lot of land and a whole crew to work with me. The problem with my little yard is I like way to much. I always want to put a little of everything in. I guess I do have the crew to work with me. They just don't seem to enjoy it like I do. They complain a lot. Except when they think they can get something out of it. I needed a trench dug and Josh dug the whole thing last night. He wants a trampoline. I better milk that for all it is worth.

I Hate Snakes !!!

A little guy just like this showed up in my yard last Thursday. My neighbor Jon found him and came to the door to get me so I could see him. I know these snakes are not harmful to us and that they even will eat the bugs in your yard. BUT I HATE SNAKES!!! I guess I get it from my Grandma Joy. She hated them too. I was not about to go close and see it when Jon wanted me to see it. I asked him to kill it he looked at me and said no way. I guess it creeped him out a too. (WHAT? He is a retired New York City Police Officer) He told me he would get his BB gun and I could shoot it. NOT. I went out later and it was not there anymore. I walked around my yard very careful the rest of the day and the next morning. Friday afternoon my cousin Kristi came to my house so we could dig up some shrubs and she could plant them in her yard. As I was walking around my house looking very closely I spotted the snake under the daylilys on the side of my house. (Were I was picking up snails that morning. AAAAH) I ran to the back and asked Kristi if she was brave enough to kill a snake. She said she would try. She took the shovel and found the snake. She tried to stab it and it started to go into the ground. She scooped it up and packed him back to my rock path. I ran away screaming for her to kill the dumb thing. She started stabbing it and she was screaming because the snake was trying to fight its attacker the shovel. On top of my screaming and Kristi's screaming. Her little girl was crying for us not to kill the snake. My neighbors came out to see what was going on. They were laughing at us all. Laura said "That was quite the ordeal" and I said "It wouldn't have been if Jon was brave enough the day before to kill it". Kristi put the thing in my garbage can. I made her bury it under some weeds I had in it, so I would not see it when I took garbage out. Her little girl liked me again by the time they left my house. That night she told her Dad we killed her snake friend. Big Bullys or is it BIG CHICKEN.
